Creating a Workspace

A workspace is a collection of qubes (applications) and connectors (connections between qubes). Each workspace can be deployed to your cloud provider by connecting a cloud to it while creating it.

This tutorial will guide you through the steps required to create a cloud environment on the Qubinets platform.

Creating a Workspace Tutorial​

Step 1: Go to New Workspace Screen​

To create a workspace you have to go to the new workspace page by following this link or by clicking the Plus button in the workspaces section of the homepage.

Step 2: Choose Workspace Type​

You can choose between:

  • Qubinets Sandbox: A free-to-use environment hosted by Qubinets with one hour limit. Suitable for testing and small projects.
  • Your Cloud: A workspace that will be deployed to your cloud provider. Suitable for larger projects and production environments.

Step 3: Select Your Cloud (Optional)​

If you chose Your Cloud in the previous step, you will have to select a cloud to deploy your workspace to. You can choose between previously created clouds or create a new one by clicking the Add your cloud button.

Step 4: Enter Cloud Details (Optional)​

If you chose Your Cloud in the previous step, you will have to enter workspace name and choose the region to deploy your workspace to. Also, you can choose to enable autoscaling for your workspace by toggling the Enable autoscale option and choose to deploy the workspace to multiple regions.

You will also need to choose instance type and instance count for your workspace. You can modify these settings later.

Step 5: Enter Workspace Details​

Enter workspace name. You can also choose to add the workspace to the project by selecting the project from the dropdown menu, or create a new project by entering the project name that does not exist yet.

Step 6: Choose Template and Add Qubes (Optional)​

If you want, you can choose a template for your workspace from the templates dropdown menu. Templates are pre-configured workspaces with qubes and connectors already added to them. You can also add qubes to your workspace by selecting them from the qubes list.

Step 7: Click Create Workspace​

Click the Create Workspace button to create your workspace. After clicking the button, the workspace will be created and you will be redirected to the builder page where you can configure your workspace further.

Calculating Workspace Cost​

Qubinets offers a cost calculator that helps you estimate the cost of running your workspace based on the instance type, instance count, regions that you choose to deploy to and applications you've added. The cost is calculated per month and is displayed in the workspace creation page.
